With Apologies to Garth Stein
Garth Stein’s novel; The Art of Racing in the Rain is a great little book. Stein does a really great job of getting you into a world where Formula 1 racer Denny Swift’s story is told through the eyes of his faithful golden retriever, Enzo. This actually becomes a great device as the analogy of driving on slick pavement is applied to the challenges of life.
Who but Enzo can best recount Denny’s challenges as he struggles with the loss of his wife, raising his young daughter, and difficult family relations. The racing scenes in the book are riveting too! Yeah, I love the analogy. PAINTING in the rain can be a part of that story too. But I have to thank Stein for the metaphor. He wrote a really great story.
