It’s 7:00am on the Eastern Seaboard and a new year has begun in Asia!
Good morning and Happy New Year! As this is published, 2025 has already begun at the International Date Line. It will be 17 hours before earth’s rotation brings us into the new year.
Because the earth is tilted on its axis, the North Pole is always in darkness now, that due to the position of the earth as it makes its 365.25 day journey around the sun. Antarctica is enjoying long sunny days. In fact, the sun never completely sets there.
That will change at the approach of the Summer Solstice, where the Northern Hemisphere is now tilted toward the sun.
The New Year Begins!
It will be 17 hours before the New Year 'officially' reaches us, but we can enjoy its beginning right now enjoying a sunrise and a cup of coffee.
