Grandma’s Stereopticon. — Photo by Bob Kirchman
My cousin recently presented me with a wonderful artifact from our youth. Grandma’s Stereopticon. It wasn’t too long before it led to another project with the grandchildren, who had recently gifted me with a trip to the American Frontier Culture Museum [click to read] in Staunton, Virginia.
Originally the cards for this device were shot with a special camera that made two images simultaneously, but with a little practice it was possible to shoot two side-by-side images and make your own cards.

Naturally our ‘research’ involved the wonderful restored houses at the museum!
